2013 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Roman Coppola’s A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III

Date:

With a knack for nabbing huge U.S. titles during his tenure at the Venice Film Fest, Marco Muller’s taste hasn’t changed much and under his direction, the November-set Rome Film Fest might be stealing some world premiere clout away from the January-set Sundance. This year we’ll see if titles such as The Motel Life, Marfa Girl and the one title I think might make its American film fest debut is Roman Coppola sophomore film. Reviewed as a quirky little number, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III might find a spot in the Spotlight section. Newbie distributor A24 films are releasing the film in February.

Gist: Charles Swan III (Charlie Sheen) has it all. He’s an eccentric and highly successful graphic designer whose fame, money and devilish charm have provided him with a seemingly perfect life. But when his true love, a perplexing beauty named Ivana, suddenly ends their relationship, Charles is left heartbroken. With the support of his loyal intimates— Kirby (Jason Schwartzman), Saul (Bill Murray), and his sister, Izzy (Patricia Arquette) – he begins a delirious journey of self-reflection to try and come to terms with a life without Ivana.

Production Co./Producers: Coppola and Youree Henley

Prediction: Spotlight Section

U.S. Distributor: A24 Films
