Tongue Twister; Amy Adams Deciphers New Language for Villeneuve’s “Story of Your Life”

Date:

Spike Jonze. David O. Russell. Paul Thomas Anderson. And now Denis Villeneuve. Amy Adams has the pick of the auteur litter and according to Deadline, the A-list actress might flex her “sci-fi” muscles. Produced by FilmNation, David Linde’s Lava Bear Films, 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Levine, Story of Your Life would be the helmer’s 2015 project.

Gist: Written by Eric Heisserer, this is an adaptation of a short story by Nebula. The story is set in motion when alien crafts land around the world and an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat. As she learns to communicate with the aliens, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks that become the key to unlocking the greater mystery about the true purpose of their visit.

Worth Nothing: 2014 mnight be another big year for Adams. She portrays Margaret Keane in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes.

Do We Care?: Enemy certainly did not do Villeneuve a disservice when working in fantasy-bizarro texts and Adams excels in emotionally complex terrain. This should be a strong match.
