2024 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: David Michôd’s Wizards!

Date:

Could David Michôd be returning to the fest where he launched Animal Kingdom back in 2010? Now that 2023 has come and gone, it’s entirely possible that the A24 folks were holding out or hoping for a Sundance launch with what could be a favorite for the stoner crowd with comedy Wizards! Based on a story by Joel Edgerton and Michôd, this went into production in August of 2022 in native Queensland, Australia with the likes of Pete Davidson, Franz Rogowski, Naomi Scott, Orlando Bloom and Sean Harris. Michôd gave us The Rover (2014), War Machine (2017) and The King (2019).

Gist: Two hapless pothead beach-bar operators played by Davidson and Rogowski, who run into trouble when they stumble across stolen loot that they really should have just left alone.

Production Co./Producers: Plan B Entertainment’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner produced with Liz Watts.

Prediction: Midnight.

U.S. Distributor: A24.
